“We simply haven’t seen these instruments played this way and with this exuberance…except by Hawktail.”
- Kelly McCartney, Folk Alley
This is not hyperbole: four of the best acoustic musicians in America have joined together to form Hawktail. We hesitate to call them a bluegrass, or even newgrass, band because their virtuosity can’t be bound by one genre. Just take in the collective power of these four: fiddler Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, Live From Here, Dave Rawlings Machine), bassist Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers), guitarist Jordan Tice (Tony Trischka, Dave Rawlings, the Duhks) and mandolinist Dominick Leslie (Noam Pikelny, The Deadly Gentlemen, Sam Reider and the Human Hands). This is something very special because not only are these four great collaborators and improvisors, they are all virtuosic soloists and tune writers. Prepare to have your mind blown.
OUR NEWLY RENOVATED RECITAL HALL
Thanks to a very generous gift from friends of the Lane Series and the Department of Music, some much desired upgrades to our space were completed in Fall 2020. This includes theatrical lighting, acoustical drapes, a green room, practice rooms, storage, and much more. We are excited to finally be able to share this space with our audience!
